Job Description

Position Overview: Director of Interconnection & Transmission

The Director of Interconnection & Transmission will lead our efforts in navigating and executing interconnection and transmission processes for renewable energy and battery storage projects within key U.S. power markets. Familiarity with strategies for power and capacity marketing, as well as congestion management or mitigation, is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit interconnection requests and modifications to support new and expanding development opportunities.
  • Conduct timely reviews and provide feedback on interconnection studies.
  • Lead negotiations for interconnection agreements.
  • Track and achieve key milestones for interconnection agreements.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to supplement expertise as needed, ensuring alignment with internal engineering standards.
  • Oversee project budgets and security postings, advocate for interconnection functions, and contribute to due diligence for acquisitions, project sales, and financing processes.
  • Support project transitions from development through execution to operational phases.
  • Provide the project development team with efficient, effective interconnection and technical solutions to meet market needs for PV and battery storage projects.
  • Contribute to responses for RFPs, bilateral offtake proposals, and shared facility agreements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in power engineering or related field, with 7-10 years of experience in large-scale renewable generation (200 MW+).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with interconnection processes for large generators.
  • At least 7 years of experience in transmission planning.
  • Proven track record of advancing projects through development stages to the start of construction.
  • Strong knowledge of interconnection tariff requirements and procedures, as well as electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience in project finance, contracts, utility interconnection, construction, and operations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work independently; creative problem-solving is key.
  • Strong technical understanding of renewable technologies, power markets, and regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for project reporting and presentations.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
