Travelling Assistant Project Manager – Solar / Wind – Remote

Our client is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to power up project success, ensuring smooth, on-time, and on-budget construction. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
• Lead and support the planning, budgeting, and coordination of solar energy construction projects to achieve milestones within set timelines and budgets.
• Oversee and facilitate project design, procurement, scheduling, and engineering processes to ensure successful project execution.
• Support the project budgeting process, maintaining cost control, forecasting expenditures, and reporting to the finance team.
• Coordinate the procurement of goods and services through bid preparation, proposal evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Organize regular project meetings to provide updates, assign tasks, and ensure smooth project progression.
• Partner with development teams to transition sites into the construction phase, ensuring comprehensive support for development and permitting activities.
• Collaborate with legal teams to negotiate and execute project contracts, including agreements for services, construction, equipment, and warranty.
• Coordinate compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational standards, facilitating smooth project turnover to asset management upon completion.
• Manage all construction activities related to the project’s interconnection and power agreements.
• Oversee critical project phases, including initial energization and conditions required for the project’s commercial operation.
Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; PMP or PE certification a plus.
• 2+ years in renewable energy project management.
• Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and/or wind projects.
• Familiar with GIS, AutoCAD, and other project management software.
• Basic understanding of electrical and high-voltage systems.
• Prior experience managing renewable energy projects, especially solar or wind.
• Familiar with project contracting, construction management, and regulatory requirements.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site at remote locations as needed.
• Strong financial and budgeting skills, with the ability to interpret reports and manage project costs.
• Proficient in project scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet physical and safety requirements.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
