We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to oversee the identification, selection, and management of external engineering firms supporting our renewable energy projects during the pre-construction and construction stages. This role will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to develop and enforce engineering standards for solar, battery storage, and hybrid projects ranging from 50 MWDC to 200 MWDC, with an emphasis on optimizing site design and enhancing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

External Engineering Firm Management: Identify, contract, and manage external engineering firms to provide support in value engineering for civil, electrical, structural, substation, BESS, and SCADA design functions for renewable energy projects.

Lead Early-Stage Engineering: Manage the transition of site design from the development phase to EPC contractor engagement, ensuring engineering readiness for the next project phase.

Engineering Resource Coordination: Work with procurement teams to align engineering resources with the needs of owner-provided equipment and materials.

Design Package Review: Review and ensure EPC contractor design packages meet technical specifications and project requirements prior to construction.

Interconnection Agreement Oversight: Assess and verify that all technical project requirements are met in Interconnection Agreements.

Compliance Integration: Ensure all project designs and specifications meet NERC compliance requirements.

Engineering Team Management: Oversee the work of external engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring consistent technical guidance and quality.

Project Support: Provide technical engineering support to Project Managers and Construction Managers as needed to ensure smooth execution throughout the construction phase.

Standardization of Requirements: Develop, implement, and maintain standardized engineering drawings, testing protocols, and technical specifications for all projects.

Procurement Support: Collaborate with procurement teams to standardize key equipment, including solar modules, racking systems, transformers, high voltage breakers, inverters, and SCADA systems.

Industry Awareness: Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to enhance value engineering processes and drive project success.

Additional Responsibilities: Take on other tasks as needed to support the success of projects and the broader engineering team.
Skills and Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in value engineering, cost estimation, or project engineering in the renewable energy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering practices in solar and battery storage projects.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and their integration into renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in managing external engineering consultants and vendors.
- Proficiency with project development and design software, including Bluebeam, CAD, GIS, and Microsoft Project.
