GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE

Beaumont, TX: With a population of more than 118,000, Beaumont, Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. Beaumont has been a home to the oil industry from the days of the Spindletop oil boom until today, and along with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, is part of the Golden Triangle industrial area on the Texas Gulf Coast. Those who live and work in Beaumont will find a close-knit community with friendly people and opportunities to explore the area at its many restaurants and businesses, as well as numerous museums and nature parks.

Built along the banks of the Neches River in 1903, the original ExxonMobil Beaumont refining facilities have grown into an integrated petrochemical complex on 2,700 acres and have contributed to the economic and social landscape of southeast Texas. In fact, 1 in 7 jobs in Jefferson County are linked to ExxonMobil, making it an integral part of the community. With a workforce of more than 5,500, the Beaumont complex includes a refinery, chemical plant, polyethylene plant and lubricant blending and packaging plant. Role Overview

At Exxon Mobil, the Senior Chemical Process Engineers are key to ensuring the effective operation of the plants. You will take lead identifying and spearheading enhancements to unit performance, prioritizing safety, production, and reliability within a dynamic team context. As a member of this team, you’ll engage in strategic thinking, meticulous execution, and seamless collaboration across multiple teams, hierarchies, and scenarios. Your role will be that of a senior process technical expert, offering invaluable technical and operational guidance to address intricate processes across various business units.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical leader on the business team by:

1. Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
2. Provide off-hours support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
3. Aiding in the development of long-term vision and strategy for product line improvements
4. Organizing and designing plant testing and product trials
5. Serve as a senior resource either serving as or working with supervisors on the team to set clear objectives, and ensure priorities are aligned for the technical team
6. Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority

Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support

1. Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)

Serve as process safety resource on business team leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by developing closure plans and strategies for identified risks

1. Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead

• Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
• Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
• Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome

Candidate profile

A successful candidate demonstrates the following attributes:

• B.S. Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in Downstream Oil and Gas Refining, specifically with experience in either Distillation or Naphtha Reforming Technology
• Process design experience
• Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
• Working knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms/mitigations, saltation, etc)
• Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
• Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
• Demonstrated understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)
• Kinetic Modelling (SOL, KBC Profimatics, etc)

A competitive compensation package commensurate with experience is offered, including the following:
