POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is for a Project Manager to lead and coordinate the planning, construction, and implementation of large-scale commercial solar projects. The position requires deep knowledge of ground-mounted solar facilities, strong project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning and Development
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Conduct risk analyses and site assessments
- Coordinate with development, underwriting, capital markets, legal, and pre-construction teams
- Assist in preparing and submitting permits and applications to regulatory authorities
Project Management
- Oversee project execution to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget
- Manage contractors and vendors, including contract negotiation and compliance with project specifications
- Monitor project progress, making adjustments as necessary for successful completion
- Conduct regular site visits for quality control and adherence to safety standards
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact, providing updates and addressing concerns
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including utility companies and local authorities
- Ensure all project documentation is maintained and communicated effectively
Financial Management
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance
- Approve invoices and manage project expenses
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts for executive management
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct safety and quality audits and implement corrective actions as necessary
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the solar energy sector
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred
- Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) technology, civil and mechanical construction, and medium-voltage systems
- Proven track record in managing large-scale commercial projects
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project)
- Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
- Expertise in project planning, budgeting, financial management, stakeholder communication, contract negotiation, and vendor management
- Knowledge of solar PV systems and risk mitigation
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or a related field is preferred.
POSITION LOCATION
The position is remote-based, with regular site visits and occasional travel to sites in Pennsylvania, along with client meetings and industry conferences. Extended hours may be required during peak project phases.
