About the Role

NextWave is working with a leading developer, owner and operator of utility-scale energy storage projects in the US to find a Project Engineer with an Electrical Engineering focus.. This person will lead commissioning efforts across the company’s growing portfolio of projects in development and construction phases.

Responsibilities

• Conduct early-stage engineering and design review for utility-scale energy storage projects, collaborating closely with EPC contractors, vendors, and utility partners
• Engage with third-party engineers and support the Procurement and Pre-Construction teams in validating technical aspects of contractual documents
• Support commissioning and testing for BESS, Solar PV, and Hybrid projects, coordinating with project contractors, vendors, and utility stakeholders
• Develop tools and templates to standardize processes and streamline repetitive tasks
• Facilitate project transitions from Execution to Operations and perform additional tasks as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university
• 2 to 3 years of experience in project engineering for utility-scale BESS, PV, and hybrid projects
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering with the ability to self-perform diverse scopes of work
• Knowledge of BESS, PV project design, and commissioning procedures, including grid operator requirements like ERCOT and CAISO
• Effective time management and prioritization skills to handle multiple projects and team initiatives
