Position Overview:

The C&I Project Developer will oversee the full development lifecycle of commercial and industrial solar and storage projects, from site selection to pre-construction. This role is critical to our client’s mission, requiring a skilled professional with deep industry knowledge and a proactive approach to project management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential sites for C&I solar and storage projects, conducting site visits and feasibility assessments as required.
  • Manage the permitting, interconnection, and environmental approval processes to ensure projects meet regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with landowners, utilities, and regulatory agencies to secure necessary agreements and approvals.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and timelines to meet client goals for timely project execution.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams to facilitate a smooth transition from development to construction.
  • Support the sales and finance teams by providing insights on technical feasibility, financial modeling, and return on investment.
  • Engage with clients, community stakeholders, and local authorities to foster positive relationships and gain support for projects.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, policy changes, and advancements in technology to optimize development strategies.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in C&I solar or renewable energy project development, ideally with experience in the New York energy market.
  • Proven expertise in navigating permitting, interconnection, and regulatory processes specific to New York.
  • Strong project management skills, with a successful track record of managing C&I projects from site acquisition through NTP (Notice to Proceed).
  • Analytical proficiency in financial modeling, PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) structures, and project ROI analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project management and solar design software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Helioscope, and PVSyst, is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
