Job Description

The Energy Storage – Regional Development Director – Chicago will lead a portfolio of 25 utility-scale Energy Storage & Solar across Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. Leading a strong team of Developers/SMEs to take the portfolio through to COD.

Client Details

My client are a global leading Private Equity, focused entirely on Renewable Energy. They’ve operated in N. America for over a decade, have GWs of Assets in Operation, GWs of projects under Construction, and GWs of projects in their Development Pipeline – Onshore/Offshore Wind, Solar, Solar+, Hydrogen, Pump Storage, Transmission, Long Duration Storage, etc etc.

Description

The Energy Storage – Regional Development Director – Chicago will:

  • Lead and manage interdisciplinary teams including land negotiations, real estate, engineering, permitting, legal and interconnection through construction commencement – through third party Development shops & Development Service agreements.
  • Lead project strategy throughout the entire development process to achieve project & corporate goals.
  • Develop and manage project development schedules and budgets.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage contract obligations in key project documents.
  • Facilitate project discretionary permitting including permit strategy, tracking permit efforts, working with local AHJs, and presenting at permit hearings as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with the cross-functional teams across the company.

Profile

The right candidate will have :

  • At least 8 years of project development experience in renewable energy – with utility-scale BESS and/or Solar development a must.
  • Ideally taking projects from early-mid stage development through to COD.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in renewable energy, finance, engineering, project/construction management or equivalent.
  • Experienced people leader and manager of cross-functional project team subject matter authorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy project development, utilities, interconnection, permitting, contracting.
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required including public speaking and/or platform skills for executive management presentations.

Job Offer

For the right Energy Storage – Regional Development Director – Chicago there will be:

Base salary dependent on experience – up to $250k

25% Annual bonus – paid like clockwork.
