The Director, Solar Projects will lead strategic construction and preconstruction efforts for the solar market sector. This leadership role involves managing internal teams, trade partners, and clients throughout project lifecycles, from planning and design through construction and turnover. Utilizing Lean principles and fostering a collaborative culture, the Director will ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.

  • Lead and mentor teams with a focus on supervision, coaching, and professional growth.

  • Develop and implement operational strategies and systems to meet project goals.
  • Collaborate with the project team to create and execute win strategies for successful project delivery.
  • Establish goals, benchmarks, and processes for measuring progress, coaching the team toward success.
  • Leverage additional resources to address challenges and drive project execution.
  • Implement safety plans and foster an environment where everyone returns home safely every day.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in areas such as design, schedule, quality, cost, safety, and delivery methods.
  • Implement operational initiatives that align with client needs and drive superior project outcomes.
  • Monitor project plans, provide creative solutions, and adjust as needed to enhance effectiveness.
  • Manage project budgets, controlling costs and optimizing revenue to meet goals.
  • Provide accurate, timely reports on project performance, including costs, production, forecasts, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Assess staff performance and identify opportunities for professional growth and management succession.
  • Develop training programs and offer ongoing coaching to build skills and align with objectives.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical experience; advanced management or technical training preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of construction management experience, including at least 10 years in solar project management.
  • Strong business acumen, including financial management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams across multiple projects, including Project Managers and Estimators.
  • Deep understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in managing all phases of project execution, including design, budgeting, scheduling, and construction oversight.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.
