Aypa Power is seeking a Director of Insurance to lead and oversee all aspects of our insurance programs. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in insurance and risk management, along with a proven track record of delivering successful outcomes in these areas. In this role, the Director of Insurance will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks across Aypas diverse operations, with a strong focus on optimizing insurance coverage and handling claims efficiently. The candidate will develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies within the context of insurance, including policies and procedures to safeguard the companys assets, reputation, and stakeholders.

Additionally, this leader will collaborate closely with project teams to ensure appropriate insurance solutions are in place for both operational and development phases, supporting Aypas commitment to delivering clean, reliable energy.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the companys project and corporate insurance platform, working cross functionally with finance, construction, operations and IT to identify risks and opportunities to optimize coverage;
  • Design, implement, and manage Aypas insurance programs, including as it relates to construction, property, liability, BI, D&O, workers’ compensation, cyber, and other relevant lines of coverage;
  • Negotiate with insurance brokers and carriers to obtain the most favorable terms, conditions, and coverage;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the companys brokers, and facilitate periodic roadshows to meet with underwriters to educate them on the growth of Aypas business and to optimize project, corporate and master policies to fit the companies needs;
  • Oversee the administration of insurance claims, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, investigation, and resolution;
  • Act as lead point of contact in soliciting quotes and indicative rates for the companies near and medium-term pipeline of projects, educating both the company and the broker as to project specifics;
  • Lead with Finance the negotiation of insurance requirements in the companys financing documents, ensuring compliance with the companys construction and operating activities including engaging insurance consultants and managing their reports/letters/deliverables;
  • Play a significant role in the development and implementation of comprehensive project and organizational risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks;
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to policies, risk assessments, incidents, and mitigation efforts;
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging risks in the renewable industry, maintaining a strategic lens as it relates to both the needs of today and as the company grows;
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting or placing coverage, including schedules and wording, with exposure to broader risk management considerations;
  • Bachelors degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, engineering or related field; Masters degree a plus;
  • Professional certification in risk management or insurance (e.g., CRMP, FRM, PRM, CERA, CPCU) strongly preferred;
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective risk management strategies and action plans that have translated into tangible results;
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and tools;
  • Extensive knowledge of property, liability, and construction-related insurance policies;
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Compensation and Location:


Salary:
A base salary commensurate with experience;

Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the overall success of the business;

Location: Remote (USA). The ability to work in the United States is a requirement;

Travel: As needed, expected less than 15% of the time
