They are owned by a well-known Growth Equity Energy Transition fund who will support our client with the 500mm of committed capital they have to grow their portfolio to 3GW of solar by 2027.
Job Overview:
The Project Finance Manager / Director of Finance will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial structuring, modeling, and funding of solar energy projects from conception to completion. This role will involve working closely with internal teams, external stakeholders (including investors, banks, and legal advisors), and managing the project finance lifecycle to ensure successful financial closure and delivery.
The ideal candidate will have strong project finance experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly solar power, and will be adept at structuring complex financing solutions, modeling cash flows, and negotiating terms with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Structuring & Modeling:
- Lead the development and maintenance of financial models to evaluate the feasibility of solar power projects.
- Create detailed project finance models, including debt/equity structures, cash flow forecasts, tax equity analysis, and sensitivity scenarios.
- Structure and negotiate financing solutions for solar projects, including debt, equity, tax equity, and other financing instruments.
Project Financing & Fundraising:
- Lead the financial due diligence process for solar projects, working with external advisors, legal teams, and tax consultants.
- Manage the execution of project financing deals, including loan syndications, tax equity investments, and other financing structures.
- Support the preparation of investment memorandums and other documentation required for securing capital from banks, investors, and other financial institutions.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with internal teams (development, legal, operations, and management) to align on financial requirements, strategies, and goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential and existing investors, financial institutions, and government agencies.
- Coordinate with legal and technical teams to ensure alignment between financial terms and contractual agreements.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports to senior management, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Track the performance of projects post-financial closure, ensuring financial milestones are met and managing any variations or issues.
- Provide regular updates on the status of the financial models, forecasts, and funding requirements.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field. An MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced qualifications are a plus.
- Experience:
- 3-6 years of experience in project finance, with a strong focus on renewable energy or infrastructure projects (solar experience preferred).
- Proven experience in developing, negotiating, and closing project financing transactions.
- Expertise in financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and valuation techniques.
- Strong understanding of debt and equity financing structures, tax equity, and project finance structures for solar projects.
- Experience in debt and tax equity raises
- Skills:
- Proficient in financial modeling software (Excel, financial modeling tools).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and financial frameworks in the energy sector.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
