Independent Power Producer is rapidly advancing its portfolio across the wind, solar, and energy storage projects throughout the U.S. With over 3GW of operating assets.

About the Role:

Looking for a Director of Development, Wind to lead the development of utility-scale wind and repower projects across the U.S. This role offers significant growth potential, managing current projects in our pipeline and originating new ones to expand our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end wind project development, including greenfield and repowering projects across various U.S. regions
  • Oversee project milestones, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects meet company and industry standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, engineering, construction) to support all phases of development
  • Negotiate land agreements and manage stakeholder relationships, including landowners, community leaders, and regulatory bodies
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and regulatory changes to optimize project siting and strategy
  • Oversee permitting, and environmental review processes, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on market positioning, new development opportunities, and risk management
  • Manage and mentor development teams, supporting their growth and effectiveness within the organization

Requirements

  • Proven experience in utility-scale wind development or repowering projects
  • Familiarity with interconnection procedures and renewable project financing
  • Skilled in coordinating cross-functional teams, including engineering, environmental, and regulatory experts
  • Financial and strategic business insight, with experience presenting at an executive level
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and project management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, wholesale markets, interconnection, and tax incentives
