Position: Director, Business Development and Sales – C&I Solar, Distributed Generation and Energy Storage (Renewables)

Location: Remote

Sector: C&I, Distributed Generation, Renewable Energy

Package: $150,000 – $190,000 + commission/bonus (OTE $300k+)

Company: C&I (Commercial and Industrial), Distributed Generation IPP

Important Note: You must have recent experience in C&I/Distributed Generation renewables to be considered for this role.

The Role

Spearhead the sales strategy in the commercial renewable energy sector. This role is integral in driving the mission of expanding sustainable energy solutions across the nation. Your primary goal is to execute the sales strategies in the C&I renewable energy and storage sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the U.S. solar and battery storage market, with a proven track record in developing strategic business relationships across various C&I markets.

Core Responsibilities

The role of the Director of Business Development and Sales involves the following:

  • Executing the commercial team’s vision and strategies in line with the goal of expanding renewable energy solutions across C&I markets.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to spot emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
  • Spearhead initiatives in securing Power Purchase Agreements, developing C&I/DG projects, and exploring innovative renewable energy avenues including battery storage and rooftop solar with C&I customers.
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic pricing, negotiation, and efficient contract management.
  • Establish and nurture key relationships with stakeholders like partners, investors, and customers in the C&I and DG sectors.

Required Experience

  • 7-10+ years in business development, marketing, or sales, with at least 5 years in the Solar industry.
  • Deep experience in the solar, storage, and EV C&I power markets.
  • Demonstrated ability in mentoring and supporting diverse teams and managing large-portfolios of projects.
  • Strong communicator with a proven track record of creating meaningful relationships with clients and partners in the renewable energy market.
  • Proven record of developing and implementing sales strategies to drive growth in revenue.
  • Extensive experience in solar Purchase Power Agreements and project development.
  • Experience in private-equity-backed companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of energy regulatory policies and M&A.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering; an MBA is a plus.
