Position Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join our client’s team for the SunZia HVDC project. This project will link large wind farms in New Mexico to the grid in Arizona, facilitating the delivery of renewable energy to the Western States in the U.S. This position will be responsible for evaluating change orders submitted by subcontractors, ensuring they meet contractual requirements, and providing detailed assessments for internal review and Consortium Partner discussions.
Responsibilities:

Evaluate Change Orders: Assess whether the submitted change orders from subcontractors are adequately documented and substantiated for review. Identify any areas needing further information or clarification.

Determine Entitlement: Analyze change orders to determine the level of entitlement under the Consortium Contract. This includes assessing full, partial, or no entitlement based on changes in scope, design, construction, or other contract terms.

Quantify and Cost Assessment: If entitlement is established, accurately calculate the quantities of materials needed, evaluate the associated costs for materials, labor, plant, and equipment, and estimate the timeframes for the change.

Draft Responses: Prepare detailed written responses to change orders, outlining our position and assessment. These responses will be used for internal review and subsequent communication with the Consortium Partner.

Close-Out Participation: Engage in the close-out process of change orders, if necessary, to ensure all changes are fully documented and agreed upon with the Consortium Partner.
Project Overview:
The SunZia HVDC project is a major renewable energy initiative that will connect wind farms in New Mexico to the power grid in Arizona and Southern California. Our client has been selected by a leading renewable energy company to supply its high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology for this project, which aims to bring more renewable energy to the Western States in the U.S.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in change order management, cost estimation, or contract management within the construction or engineering industries.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with Consortium Contracts or similar collaborative contractual frameworks.
- Knowledge of construction law and contract management principles.
- Certification in Project Management or Contract Management is a plus.
