My client, a growing solar developer is looking for a Community Engagement specialist to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing strategy and execution of Community Engagement Plans
- Collaborate in execution of Community Engagement Plans and Benefits Programs
- Establish, build, and own relationships at the county level with elected officials, county staff, local organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate with team to assure proper content creation & public attendance at community meetings.
- Conduct presentations to stakeholder groups, county or state officials, at project public meetings
- Manage a positive, professional, and respected company brand in project communities
- Manage interactions with local media in partnership with project teams
- Manage media sources, monitoring, and analysis across platforms
- Support company branding initiatives and merchandise (hats, shirts, vests, etc.)
- Support company LinkedIn and website design, updates and promotion
- Plan community events and donations (charitable or project meetings)
- Draft talking points and letters of support
- Track community events and conferences for engagement, sponsorships, support
- Travel to project communities will be moderate, overnight accommodation is also expected, but many of the travel opportunities will not require overnight accommodation.
Experience/Skills
- Candidate will ideally have 2+ years experience working in the solar/clean energy industry
- Candidate will have experience working in rural communities, either building support for projects/candidates/policy or promoting the use of or sale of solar technologies.
- Candidate will have a strong willingness to travel Virginia’s roads to learn about county elected officials’ position on solar.
- Candidate must be a good listener, but also must be able to offer patient & persuasive reasoning that resonates across the political spectrum.
- Candidate should have significant skills in communication, and transparency, trustworthiness, confidence, humility and creativity are valued in this space.
- Candidate must be comfortable working with elected officials, county staff, and multiple stakeholders, including NGO staff and board members.
